Geophysical Project Management : Bighorn uses its 23 years of experience to provide accurate cost estimates and provide additional options to help meet proposed budgets. Starting with pre-planning, through survey and recording, and ending with data delivery, Bighorn will manage your program from start to finish. With geophysical licenses in Alberta, B.C. , and Saskatchewan, Bighorn offers client confidentiality when needed.
Pre-planning , Approvals and Mapping : Staff at Bighorn will assist in planning and layout of your seismic program. We will gather critical information such as environmental, wildlife, parks and recreation, Native issues, etc which will be crucial in planning and completing a successful program in a timely fashion. We will use current digital data (pipelines, roads, wildlife boundaries etc), combined with the most recent aerial photography or satellite imagery to carefully layout your seismic program, with environmental impact the first priority. We pride ourselves in keeping the client well informed and providing constant updates, in order to maintain efficiency through the application and approval process.
ADEPT Digital Submissions and Final Plans : For the past 10 years, Bighorn has provided digital mapping and GIS services to their clients. We will submit your program application digitally to the Alberta government system, ADEPT. We can provide mapping services for the surveying and recording of your program, and will gather the final data to produce a final plan map.
First Nations Consultations Services : Consultation with First Nations is now an integral part of the pre-planning process for seismic programs. Requirements to access First Nations traditional lands vary from province to province. Federal approval, through Indian Oil and Gas Canada, is mandatory if a seismic program impacts an Indian Reserve. Areas that need to be addressed may include Environmental Impact Assessments, identification of heritage or archeological sites, council meetings, native employment and compensation. Bighorn Land has extensive experience working with First Nations in the western Provinces.
Permitting and Scouting : Bighorn Land employs a number of qualified veteran Permit Agents. In the field, our Permit Agents serve our clients with two major functions. Firstly, upon scouting the location of a new program, they will quickly recognize potential problems that may affect line location planning, access routes and environmental and safety concerns. Secondly, our Permit Agents will meet and negotiate with the relevant land owners and/or occupants of the program area, in order to acquire permit agreements for right-of-entry. Our agent will carefully deal with the concerns of the land owners to ensure their interests are protected, as well as those of our clients. All our Permit Agents are C.A.G.C. certified.
Bighorn Land also has several experienced advance men available to pre-scout programs on Crown land, which is required before submission to provincial governments for approval.
Surveying : Since 1990, Bighorn has provided seismic survey as a primary service to its clients. Throughout Western Canada and the Territories, Bighorn has surveyed both 2D and 3D seismic programs, utilizing GPS and conventional survey methods. Combining in-house mapping technologies with experienced field personnel, we have created a system of efficient and accurate decision-making, with the goal of maintaining the integrity of your seismic program. With a large fleet of trucks, ATV's, Argos, and snowmobiles, Bighorn prides itself in accessing difficult terrain conditions. Please contact us to discuss survey of your seismic program.
Reclamations and Inspections: On certain seismic programs, provincial regulations require on-site inspections to be carried out once seismic operations are complete. This is to confirm that the terms of the approval have been met with regards to clean-up, removal of stream crossings, rollback, reseeding etc. If necessary, additional work may be required at that time. The program licensee may then apply for a Letter of Clearance from the appropriate provincial government. Bighorn Land is pleased to provide these services to our clients.
